The New Health Challenges for Empowered Older Adults

Mon 10 Mar | 17:30 - 18:00

Society has changed, and especially older adults have changed, as they now have higher expectations of quality of life, are generally living longer, and are also more interested in their health and preserving their physical autonomy. The rise of ageism has not only occurred in society in general but can also be observed in the field of healthcare, which has come to be called “healthcare ageism.” This, combined with older adults’ growing concerns about their health, physical autonomy, and the medical or healthcare attention they may need, has led well-organized senior groups, such as CEOMA, to establish a commission of experts in health issues to advise and support them, with technical expertise, in their claims before administrations and public authorities.
